Madlaina Demarmels’ poetic and haunting sculpture project "Quellas da Russonch" (those from Russonch) 1982–84 refers to the legend of the brave, wise and independent women, who were persecuted and outlawed as witches in the early days.

According to the tradition, they gathered in Russonch — an ancient "hot spot" for rituals and ceremonies near the village of Scuol, Engadin.
